I have dry skin and I am always looking for the “ideal cream” for me. Still, I didn’t find it but in the way, I found this olive oil based cream by Ziaja, which is very good for dry skin. I would like to share my thoughts with you.

About Ziaja

Ziaja is a cosmetics brand from Poland by the Baltic Sea. It has more than 30 years of experience and it is cruelty-free.

It was founded in 1989 by pharmacists Zenon and Aleksandra Ziaja. From that date, they have developed a brand with more than 1000 beauty care products of the highest quality. They have products for face, body and hair for women and men. They also have pharmaceutical and children range.

Ingredients

Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Aqua (Water), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Lanolin Alcohol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ceresin, Methylparaben, Parfum (Fragrance), Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Amyl Cinnamal, Cinnamyl

Price and availability

It is not easy to buy in the UK. I have never seen it in a physical shop and you can get it only from the international Ziaja webpage or other online retails such as Notino.

It is available from the website in the US and Europe. In some European countries, like France, you can get it from some pharmacies while in Spain it is available in shops as Druni or Primor.

The price in the UK is about £2.50 for 50 mL.

My experience using Ziaja Olive Oil Cream

The packaging is traditional. It is an old fashion pot with a screw cap. It reminds me of my grandmother’s dressing table with all her pots of cream I loved to put my finger in when I was a little girl. It is in green olive colour with the letters in white. There is scarce information displayed in the pot and all is written in Polish, not so good if you don’t speak that language.

The product comes properly sealed with a protection foil. If you want to keep the sealing and reseal after each use you can do it, but I didn’t do as my intentions were to use it every night.

The cream is white with a soft scent. It doesn’t smell as olive, something that worried me. It is quite a thick cream, but it melts well in contact with the skin and gets absorbed quick. It doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky feeling.

I apply this cream as part of my night routine, after all the serums and treatment products. I apply a pea-size amount all over my face and massage in upward motions to produce some lifting effect.

Just after applying this cream, I feel my skin hydrated and nourished. It is thick enough to enclose the inner layer products and help them to make a better job. At the same time, it is absorbed by the skin and I feel my face soft and silky. My skin feels still hydrated the following morning.

I used this product a couple of times as a hand cream. When my hands were really dry and damaged I applied this cream and put on a pair of cotton gloves for sleep. The following morning my hands were restored completely.

However, hydration is the unique job that cream does. It doesn’t prevent ageing or reduce wrinkles or anything else (the brand never claimed that for this product). It is a basic cream to keep in your stash and use when you need extra hydration in your face or hands.

It can be used for babies from 1 month old, but as I do not have any baby or child, I can’t say anything about it. My guess is that it may be a good cream for nappy rashes.

In summary, this is not a bad product but it is very basic. If you are looking for hydration only, this is your product. The feeling on the skin is good, as well as the smell, absorbed quickly and hydrates the skin. It does what it promises and it is affordable.

✔ Pros

  • Affordable
  • Absorbs quick
  • Soft and nice smell
  • Hydrates skin

❎ Cons

  • Not easy to buy
  • Information is only in Polish
  • Gives only hydration
  • Not very hygienic packaging

❔ Will I buy it again?

I will buy it again. I like to use creams that have more effects on the skin as anti-ageing, wrinkle appearance reduction, or others, but I like also to have a basic cream at hand for those days when my skin needs extra hydration.
