Loreal Fine Flowers Face Wash Review

The product I am going to talk about today is not a new release. It has been in the market for a long, but we cannot always review just-released products. I´ve used a few tubes of this cleanser, Lóreal Fine Flowers Gel-Cream Wash. It is an affordable and widely available face wash, you can buy it from almost any supermarket in the UK. But, is Loreal Fine Flowers Face Wash a good cleanser?

What does the brand say?

The L’Oréal Paris Laboratories have selected and combined extracts of Rose and Jasmine Flowers, in a cleansing gel-cream wash for soft, comfortable and fresh skin, every day.

Price and availability

It is a widely available product. As I mentioned before, you can buy it from most supermarkets and drug stores as well as from most of the skincare online retailers. The price is between £2-£4 (depending on the store) for 150 mL.

My opinion about Loreal Fine Flowers Face Wash

About the packaging

The product comes in a squeeze tube, half baby pink and half transparent. The pink part shows a rose petal and in the transparent part, you can read some information about the product.

In the back of the tube shows some marketing statements, how to use and the ingredient list. The tube contains 150 mL, so keep in mind that you cannot carry this cleanser with you if you fly with hand luggage only.

The tube is closed by a baby pink flip-top cap. It has a nozzle with the right size to allow control of the amount of product dispensed.

Loreal Fine Flowers Face Wash: the product

The product texture is something in between a gel and a cream. It is thinner than a cream but thicker than a gel. It is pearl white and it is quite runny.

This cleanser has a strong smell. It is a floral scent which I can’t identify as rose or jasmine as claimed by the brand.

When the product is in contact with the water the texture changes to a milky consistency. It lathers well and foams to some extent. However, don’t expect a huge amount of foam.

What about the application?

I always use this product as the second step of the double cleanse. I feel it soothing on my skin. It also produces a refreshing feeling. It doesn’t sting my eyes or produce blur vision.

This product eliminates well the rest of the dirt and cleansing balm. It does an efficient job while being gentle with my skin, as expected for a product indicated for dry and sensitive skin.

I’ve tried a couple of times to use this product as a unique cleanser when I am wearing makeup. However, I don’t like to use it that way. I don’t feel my skin completely clean and I can still feel the rest of the makeup on my skin after washing it with only this product.

How does my skin feel after using Loreal Fine Flowers Face Wash?

The product rinses off well with warm water and doesn’t leave any residue, or oily or sticky feelings. My skin feels cleansed, fresh and soft. I don’t get any dry or tight feelings, though I don’t get any moisturising or nourishing feelings either.

I don’t get any irritation. However, my skin is dry but not sensitive. Maybe people with sensitive skin can let me know in the comments if this product irritates their skin.

If I need to summarise how the product feels on my skin in one sentence, it is that the product is a lightweight cleanser, which cleans my skin without drying it.

About Loreal Face Flowers Face Wash Ingredients

One of the main claims of this product is that it contains jasmine and rose flower extracts. In the ingredient list, you can find them as Jasminum Officinale extract and Rosa Gallica Flower extract, respectively.

The type of cleansing ingredients in this product is most of them mild surfactants. However, it also contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) among the first five ingredients, which means that it is present in a quite high concentration.

The formula contains also moisturising and nourishing ingredients like glycerin and Shea butter.

The properties of the claimed ingredients are not very clear. Jasmine may have anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties and the rose flower extract may be anti-inflammatory. However, there is no scientific evidence of that, there is not enough research about the benefits of those ingredients.

In my opinion, claiming the product contains these ingredients and writing that on the front of the packaging is simply a marketing strategy.

L’oreal Fine Flowers Gel-Cream Wash

Pros

  • Very affordable
  • Widely available
  • Cleans the skin
  • Nice smell
  • Doesn’t leave residue
  • Doesn’t dry the skin

Cons

  • Doesn’t remove makeup
  • Contains SLS
  • Claims ingredients with unclear benefits

Do I recommend it?

I bought a few tubes for the sake of writing a deep review. However, I don’t think I will buy this product again. I would not recommend this product in particular. You can buy it if you are on a budget, but there are similar options in the market equally affordable and do the same job.

Summary

In summary, this product is a mild cleanser which does an efficient job. It is not a bad product for people with dry skin. However, I don’t think it is better than other options in the market. I think this product is an average mild cleanser with a huge marketing campaign.
