Isntree Sun Stick Review

Today I am going to review Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Airy Sun Stick. I got this product for free from the YesStyle Influencer Program in exchange for my HONEST review. I write HONEST in capital letters as I am free to write whatever I feel about the product, good or bad. Actually, I already wrote a negative review about a gifted product (Amazonliss Brazilian Keratin). Now, with no more delay, let’s go through the Isntree Sun Stick review.

About Isntree

Isntree is a cruelty-free K-beauty brand which uses natural ingredients in its formulas to minimise risks of sensitivity and dry skin. The name itself gives an idea about the philosophy of the brand. ISNTREE has a hidden meaning. IS comes from a nature ISland pure, clean and not affected by pollution, N means the use of raw materials from Nature and TREE is simply that, a tree.

Most of the Isntree products are vegan and all of them are cruelty-free.

My thoughts about Isntree Sun Stick

About the packaging

The product comes in a minimalist cardboard box in blue and white. The box shows printouts of the product name, some features, how to use it, cautions and other information. All are in English except the information at the back, which is in Korean, I believe.

Inside the box, there is a stick, like a deodorant stick, also in white and blue. The stick has a weird shape. I was expecting it to be round or with an oval shape, but it has a teardrop shape, with one side thinner than the other.

The stick has a round wheel at the bottom to push the product out. It is closed by a press-on cap in translucent white.

It is very handy packaging to carry with you in the bag. As it is a stick, there will not be any mess if the product opens. If you travel, this product is a good option to carry in hand luggage because it is solid. The cap closes really well, there is no risk of opening accidentally. That is good if you carry the product to the beach. It will not end full of sand.

Isntree Sun Stick: the product and application

The product is solid and, as expected, has the same shape as the pack. It is very pale yellow and does not have any scent at all, something positive if you have sensitive skin.

It is very easy to apply. I only need to glide and swipe over my face and neck, covering all the areas. The teardrop shape makes application very easy. The shallow side allows easy application over complicated areas, like the undereye area or the sides of the nose.

The main problem I found when I apply it, is that I don’t know the areas covered by the product. I miss a colour guide (which disappears after a while, obviously), as children’s sunscreens have, to make a more effective application and, maybe, reduce the amount of product applied (sometimes I feel I am overapplying the product).

How does Isntree Sun Stick feel on my skin?

I like how my skin feels after application. I use sunscreen daily because of my dark spot problem, but I hate the feeling most sunscreen leaves on my skin. With this one, I feel……. nothing.

I don’t get a sticky or oily feeling, my skin absorbs the product straightforwardly and I don’t get any sort of white cast. The problem is, as I mentioned, that I think I am using too many products, as I don’t know the areas I already applied.

Because this product contains hyaluronic acid, my skin feels hydrated. Keep in mind that I re-apply any sunscreen every two hours. The hydration this product produced on your skin lasts between applications.

Sometimes I use this product over makeup. Normally I use sunscreen mists or sprays to re-apply sun protection when I am wearing makeup, but I can now also use this sun stick. It does not modify or remove my makeup. My makeup remains intact.

About sun protection property

I can’t say anything about if the product is protecting my skin or not. That applies to any sunscreen. How can I measure or check that? Trust me when I say that I would really like to be able to measure if my skin is protected or not.

I normally trust the products I use as sunscreen (otherwise I don’t use them). This one protects against UVA and UVB, it is SPF 50 and PA++++.

SPF (sun protection factor) measures the ability of a product to block UVB. SPF 50 means that the product blocks 98% of UVB rays and only 2% of UVB will reach your skin. At the moment any product blocks 100% of UVB.

On the other hand, PA is related to the level of protection against UVA. It is related to skin darkening and the time the skin takes to tan. Not all countries use UVA testing, only Japan, the UK, Germany, the US and Australia do.

The PA rating system is complex but, basically, the protection increases with the number of + signs (that goes from one to four + signs). This sun stick is PA ++++, which means that it gives high protection.

Isntree Sun Stick Ingredients

This is a chemical sun protector. All the active ingredients in sunscreen activity produce chemical protection. The main one is homosalate, which is an oil-soluble ingredient which protects against UVB but which is not very stable and should be combined with other ingredients. In this product, homosalate works in combination with octinoxate, ethylhexyl salicylate, Uvinol A Plus and Tinosorb S.

The product contains some moisturising ingredients like hyaluronic acid (as hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate), ceramides and glycerine. It also contains some other beneficial ingredients like niacinamide, olive oil and aloe vera extract.

In summary, this is the first time I use sunscreen on a stick and I am surprised. Sunscreen application is quite torture for me. I hate how they feel on my skin, and with this one, I even like to apply it as my skin feels fresh and I don’t need to wait to apply makeup.
