I love testing new products and discovering new favourite skincare products. Whenever I see something appealing or I read a good review, I put the product on my wishlist and try to buy it. One of those products I tried is the Simple Cleansing Oil, which I have been using for some time as the first step of double cleansing. Today, I would like to share with you my review of this product.

What does the brand say about it?

My Experience with this product

The product comes in a cylindrical transparent plastic bottle with a green flip-top cap. There is a label in the bottle displaying information about the product. Under the cap, there is a nozzle to help to dispense the right amount of oil.

The oil is that, an oil. It is something between yellow and green in colour and, obviously, with an oily consistency. There is no artificial smell and that is one of the things I don’t like about this product. It has a strong oil smell.

I used it as the first step of the double-cleansing. Normally, I dispense some oil between my hands, rub it, and apply it to my face doing a circular massage.

It removes well my makeup, including the waterproof mascara, but produces blurry vision for some time when I apply it over my eyes.

It was easy to rinse off and didn’t leave my skin oily or sticky. However, I was expecting to hydrate my skin a bit more, as per the oil formulation. I cannot say it dries my skin, but I feel balms work better for me than oils.

One of the advantages of this product is that it is widely available in the UK, you can buy it from most supermarkets and drugstores and it is really affordable. It is quite cheap so all the budgets can buy it.

In summary, I didn’t like it too much. Though the product does a really good job cleansing your face and removing the makeup, it produces ma blur vision and I hate the smell. It doesn’t hydrate my skin and the oily consistency makes it difficult to apply compared with cleansing balms.

PROS

  • Cleans well
  • Doesn’t dry skin
  • Widely available
  • Affordable

❌ CONS

  • Smell to oil
  • Blur my vision
  • Not so easy to apply

Will I recommend it?

In principle, no. If you wear contact lenses, I will not recommend you to use this product. If that is not your case and you are not concerned about oil smell, it may be a good option, mainly if you are on a budget. I prefer cleansing balms better than this oil.
