In this post, I am going to review the skinChemist Rose Illuminating Peel Off Mask. I got this product for free for an honest review. I have been using it for the past few months now and these are my thoughts. I hope you enjoy the post.

My opinion about skinChemists Rose Illuminating Peel Off Mask
How does the product looks like?
The tube comes in a very elegant cardboard box. It is deep pink and white with the brand name printed in silver. All the required information is displayed on the box together with a contact number and email and a QR code to scan and get more information about the product.
Inside this box, you can find a squeeze tube with a screw cap. The tube is in the same colours as the box, deep pink and white, and also displays the required information. The screw cap is made of plastic and in silver colour. When you open it for the very first time, you can see a foil sealing the product.
Under the sealing foil, there is a nozzle, small enough to control the amount of product delivered.
The product itself has a jelly consistency, it is transparent and pale rose in colour. It smells like a mixture of rose and Paeonia, but it is a soft, pleasant smell. As expected in a peel-off mask, the gel is sticky, but that is the texture you expect to find in a peel-off mask.
How do I use the skinChemist Rose Illuminating Peel Off Mask?
It is very important for me to exfoliate my skin regularly, as I explained in the post about How should you Exfoliate Your Skin. I have been using this peel-off mask once a week only and I apply it over the face and neck, avoiding the area around the eyes and the lips.
I like to apply a thin layer of product, enough to eliminate dead cells but which dries relatively quickly/. When we talk about cosmetic products, ‘more’ does not always mean better results. I miss a spatula included in the pack to make the application cleaner.
Firstly I apply the gel on my forehead (be careful with your brows), extending it properly to get an even layer. Secondly, I cover my cheeks and nose. Finally, I apply it to my chin and neck.
I wait until the product is dried and peel it off. It does not take a long time to get dry. Unlike other peel-off masks, which never get fully dry, this one is ready to remove in around 15 minutes, though I leave it for at least 20 minutes to be sure it is 100% dry.
It is easy to peel off, does not hurt my skin and does not leave annoying residues. However, I like to rinse my face with some micellar water to remove the very small product which can remain on my face.
How does my skin feel after using the skinChemist Rose Illuminating Peel Off Mask?
After I remove the mask, my face looks radiant, fresh, and very soft. I can feel how the mask eliminates the impurities and dead cells.
One very important feature for me, as a person with dry skin, is that this mask does not leave a dry or tight feeling on my skin. Even if I don’t apply moisturiser straight away, my skin is fine, not feeling tight or itchy at all.
Another thing I love about this face mask is that the day I apply it when I go to sleep at night, I can feel the lovely rose and peony smell on my pillow. It is as if my pores were spreading the smell. It is a lovely and relaxing scent.
This product is quite expensive, I am not going to lie to you, but keep in mind that a 50 mL tube will last for lots of applications, which means, few months of use. Using it once a week, I had more than 15 applications, which is not bad at all.
However, there are other cheaper masks in the market with similar effects. You should evaluate if it is worth it to spend more than £20 on a peel-off mask. When you apply a peel-off mask you are not in a hurry, you are taking some time for yourself, so it is not a big problem if your mask takes a bit longer in getting dry.
In summary, I like the product. I like how it smells, how easy it is to apply and remove, and I like the effect it leaves on my skin. It is a good product that delivers what it claims for.
Pros
- Easy to apply and peel off
- Nice smell
- Leaves my face soft
- Dries quick
- Does not dry my skin
Cons
- Price
- I miss a spatula included in the pack
Will I buy it again? Do I recommend it?
I recommend this product if you are not on a budget. It is not the best peel-off mask I tried in my life, though it does a good job and smells nice. I am not very sure if that fact justifies the price of the product.
I will buy it again, but only when I find it on sale. I will not spend £23 or higher on a peel off mask.

31 July, 2021 at 14:34I was really excited when I read this headline! My mom used a peel-off mask when I was growing up. She’d let me use it every now and again. As an adult (in middle age), I wish I could find the one she used back then…or any peel-off mask that is gentle, but works to really exfoliate and remove dead skin. I always like your pros/cons list and would you buy it again. I’ll follow your advice on this one for sure and keep searching for one that’s more economical!
