Minetan Coffee Scrub Review

I love coffee. I am able to drink more than five coffees a day. However, I never thought about applying coffee to my skin. Until I got Minetan Coffee Scrub in a subscription box. I tried this product and I am going to share with you my opinion about this product.

What does the brand say?

Expertly prep your skin for the application of flawless tan with the MineTan Coffee Scrub. This gentle body exfoliator helps to buff away the top layer of dead skin cells to leave behind a thoroughly polished and satin-smooth canvas, ready for a balanced layer (or several) of your preferred self-tan.

The nourishing formula is infused with a host of beneficial ingredients, including Sweet Almond Oil and Macadamia Oil to ensure the skin remains hydrated and conditioned while enhanced with a healthy-looking glow.

The addition of freshly ground Coffee releases energising and enlivening properties, targeting areas of dryness and flakiness for a softer, more even skin texture. Revitalising and rejuvenating, this body scrub is gentle enough to be used regularly, refining and refreshing the skin to promote a unified and toned appearance, irresistibly silky to the touch.

Price and availability

I find it quite hard to get this product in the UK. You can buy from Lookfantastic (I think it is sold out at this moment, but you can set up a stock alert) and from other less-known online retailers.

In the US it is widely available. You can buy from the brand’s website or from Walmart.

The price in the UK is £10 for a 200 g bag.

My opinion about Minetan Coffee Scrub

Minetan Coffee Scrub packaging

I got two bags of 30 grams each in two different subscription boxes. The packaging for 30 g and 200 g are similar. The product comes in a pink plastic foil6 bag, completely sealed. You should tear off the bag to open it. This bag is resealable with a zip seal.

The product is inside the bag. I don’t like this packaging. It is a mess when you get the product off the bag. You can hardly control the amount of product you are taking and a lot of product falls over. There is a big waste of product.

The zip seal is not enough to protect the product against the bathroom humidity and, with time, the product ends up completely damp.

About the product

The product looks like the residue you get after brewing coffee but mixed with some white particles. I guess it is sugar, but it looks like bacterial or fungal growth. It does not look appealing at all.

The product smells of coffee, obviously. But it does not smell like just-made coffee. I feel the smell is more like white coffee with lots of sugar which were prepared a long time back. It is not the smell I want on my skin. I love the coffee smell, but I love the smell you get when you are preparing coffee.

Minetan Coffee Scrub Application

The application is a mess. First of all, as I already mentioned, you spill product everywhere when you are taking it out of the pack. A lot of product is wasted as it does not stay easily on the skin. Your bath or shower ends really messy, with coffee particles everywhere, even on the wall.

You should apply it over damp skin. That is the worst part of the application. Brown water starts to flow from your body. I am not going to mention what it looks like (I don’t want to trigger the Internet algorithms), but you can imagine it looks like an accident in the shower………

The smell stays in the bath for a quite long time, which is another problem for me.

How does my skin feel?

Obviously, the skin feels smooth and soft after using this product. It is well-known that the ingredients used in this product (coffee and sugar) have been used as scrubs from ancient times.

The job of a scrub is to eliminate the dead cells accumulated over0 the skin, providing a smooth texture and leaving soft skin. In this sense, this product is doing a good job. It does the job it is intended for.

Minetan Coffee Scrub Ingredients

I am going to mention two types of ingredients in this product. On one side we can see the ingredients with the scrub function and we can see emollients on the other side.

The ingredients used as a scrub are coffee powder, walnut shell powder, oat extract and brown sugar. All these ingredients are well-known as exfoliators in DIY scrubs. Among the emollient ingredients, we can find different vegetable oils like sweet almond, olive and macadamia oil as well as shea butter. All of them are amazing ingredients to moisturise the skin.

Minetan Coffee Scrub

Pros

  • Leaves the skin smooth and soft
  • Contains good ingredients
  • Possibility to buy 30 or 200 g pack

Cons

  • The packaging doesn’t allow to take the product off easily
  • Messy application
  • I don’t like the smell
  • It is not easy to get in the UK

Do I recommend it?

I don’t like the product and, therefore, I am not going to recommend it. You can buy more pleasant-to-use body scrubs from different brands. However, the product does a good job, so it may be good for you if you don’t mind the smell.

In summary, this product leaves your skin smooth and hydrated at the same time. It contains so many beneficial ingredients for the skin and, in principle, it looks like a good product. However, the combination of the packaging, application and smell puts me really off and I don’t feel I want to use it. There are many other scrubs, like The Body Shop scrubs, which make a similar job (or even better) with a so much pleasant application and smell.
