I knew about Weleda Skin Food through the vogue Insider Reviewer Panel. They contacted me to ask if I wanted to try this product. After reading the product claims I accepted it as it is indicated for dry skin. I received three tubes of 10 mL each, enough to test the product deeply. I have been using it for some time and now I want to share with you my thoughts about this product.
What does the brand say?
If there’s just one thing you need to take with you to a desert island, it’s this little green hero. Skin Food is a universal saviour of dry, rough skin on faces, elbows, hands and feet – wherever you take a lot out of your skin, let Skin Food put it back in. Rosemary stimulates circulation, while sunflower and sweet almond oils deeply nourish. Beeswax and lanolin lock in softness, for long-lasting, incredibly versatile and extremely good value care.
With extracts of gentle viola tricolour, calendula and chamomile, in a rich, thick base of pure plant oils, Skin Food loves your skin back to its best. First formulated in 1926, this cream is adored by all, and its original cult following has grown to an inclusive cross-generational fan club.

Weleda Skin Food Moisturiser Review
Weleda Skin Food Packaging
The product comes in a minimalist-style squeeze tube. As I already mentioned, I got three tubes of 10 mL each but the packaging is similar to the full-size product.
The 10 mL product is closed by a white screw cap and has a nozzle inside to deliver the product. When I opened it for the very first time the nozzle was sealed with foil to ensure product quality.
The tube doesn’t break when you squeeze it and it is very easy to take all the product off without cutting the tube.
I think the full-size product comes with a flip-top cap. However, I can’t say anything about how well it dispenses the product as I never used it yet.
About the application
The product itself is a very thick white cream. I should say I was surprised as I never expected a so thick cream. It has a soft earthy smell, which goes quickly after application.
I tried different ways of applications. The way it works better for me is to squeeze a small amount of cream (a pea size) on my hands and warm it while rubbing it between my hands before applying it to my face.
Be careful when you squeeze the product out if you press too much you will deliver an excess of product. As the product is very thick, it is not easy to put it back in the tube and you will waste it.
After warming up the product, I apply it all over my face and neck with a gentle massage.
Weleda Skin Food Absorption
I think due to the thickness, this cream doesn’t absorb quickly. This is one of the reasons I advise using it as part of your nighttime routine when you have time to wait until full absorption.
Just after application, your skin will look oily and shiny. I think this product may not be good for people with oily skin.
After a while, I apply a second massage to help the full absorption of the product. There is no residue left after the second massage and the absorption is complete.
About the results
My skin is dry and sometimes it becomes dehydrated. During winter, due to cold, wind, rain, and heating, …, my skin tends to be flaky and dehydrated. I need to use highly nourishing creams to keep good hydration levels.
When I apply this cream my skin looks and feels hydrated and plumped. I normally apply this product at the end of my night routine and I wake up with really glowy and healthy skin.
I don’t have too many fine lines or wrinkles, but the few I have are (or at least look) reduced after a month of using this product. Obviously, they don’t disappear (that should be a miracle or surgery) but this cream hides them perfectly.
About Weleda Skin Food Ingredients
I am not going to discuss all the ingredients in this product, but I would like to feature some of them. This cream has a beeswax and oils base, and contains extracts of plants with calming effects, like viola tricolour, calendula and chamomile.
The cream includes also oils with a high emollient properties like rosemary, sunflower seeds or sweet almond oils.
Weleda Skin Food is free of synthetic fragrances and colourants, preservatives, parabens, phthalates, GMOs and sulphates, all considered polemic ingredients.
In summary, I was a bit sceptical when I used this cream for the first time. Every time I used it, I liked it more and more and I am surprised with the results, short term and after a month of using the product daily.
