September Subscription Boxes

september-beauty-subscription boxes

I made a change in my beauty boxes’ subscription this month. I have been feeling very disappointed with the Birchbox, they include in the box very small size products and full-size ones are normally face masks or eye pencils. I have never found a full-size product different to the mentioned before in all the time I have been subscribed. Another thing annoying me is that they say in the website that if you review the product you get a gift, and in my case, that never happened, even if I reviewed every month the box and the products I tried.

For those reasons, I cancelled my subscription to Birchbox. I keep the subscription to Glossybox, Roccabox and Lookfantastic Beauty Box.

This month I received all the boxes at the same time. It is amazing to unbox three (well, four as I also receive a box non-related with beauty) the same day. It was easier to compare the content of the boxes as I was keeping the excitation for the products I like and the bad feelings for what I like less.

I am keeping the products I don’t like, I do not use or that is not for my skin/hair type, unopen, for a giveaway that I am planning to organise on my Instagram account.

Roccabox Subscription Box

This September box is all about you, and the BOSS that you are. I don’t understand well what the theme is, they mentioned in the leaflet that we are all boss in some aspect of our life. They include this month’s products from female-owned brands. What can we find inside?

STYLondon – Devil Velvet Touch Eyeshadow Palette. Full Size. £15

It is a nine colours palette with burgundy-reddish shades. There are matte and shimmery shades and they have vitamin E. They claim to last all day. Pigmentation is amazing in the swatches, I don’t know how they will blend, but I think I will like.

Douvalls – Lip and cheek Colour. Full Size. £16

I got the shade ……. It is a tint with argan oil that is perfect to apply on lips and cheeks. It is a nourishing product that gives you a hydrating look without leaving a greasy feeling. I don’t think I will use and I will keep for the giveaway.

Like It On Top – Lip Scrub Protection. Deluxe Travel Size, £11.75

That lemon lip scrub exfoliates, moisturises and hydrates lips. It is the perfect step before applying lipstick. It is natural and a female-owned brand. I will make good use of this product, my lips are very dry during the cold seasons.

Oh K! – Pomegranate Sculpting Tech Neck Mask. Full Size. £7

I have never heard about the neck mask, but I am attracted by the idea. We are continuously taking care of the face, hands, feet and body but what about the neck. It is a big forgotten area. I will not spend money on this product but as it is part of the box, I will use.

Brushworks – HD Eye Brush. Full size. £5.99

You will never have too many brushes in your makeup bag. I like to find brushes in my subscription boxes, maybe not every month, but occasionally. I have a lot of brushes, but they are never enough, mainly the eye brushes. I use a minimum of 3 brushes for each eye look and I makeup every working day. I can’t wash my brushes every day and that is why I want plenty.

This one is an eye brush vegan, cruelty-free and handcrafted. It has soft but densely packed bristles to leave the right amount of product.

Caleño Drinks – Juniper & Inca Berry. Extra Treat 10 cl drink. £3.6

I like Roccabox because every month they include a treat in the box. This month the treat is a non-alcoholic spirit. It is a tropical infusion of juniper, citrus and spice botanicals. Their advice is to top it up with tonic water. Let’s see if I like.

This month the products in the Roccabox have a value of £59

Glossybox Subscription Box

Glossybox came in the typical and characteristic pink box. As usual, you can find the products inside wrapped in the baby pink paper with the black ribbon.

September theme is Glossy Spa. Summer is over, unfortunately, and it is time to get ready for autumn. Days on the beach will be replaced for the afternoon when we look rain through the window while enjoying a hot cuppa. We need to prepare the body for the winter coming and this box will help to do that. It contains 5 skin and body care products to make a spa session at home.

I am going to complain this month as they didn’t include, at least in my box, the leaflet explaining what products are for and the retail price, which makes my job more complicated. I will find the information for you, don’t worry.

Let’s dive into the box……..

All of that came together with a Lindl Chocolate bar.

Lookfantastic Subscription Box

I am repeating with this box, and I think I will do for some time. This month theme is the 6th Birthday of the subscription box. The box is orange with “The Birthday Box” written in Golden colour. It is full of amazing products, from luxury cosmetics to cult-favourites skincare.

Illamasqua – Mini OMG Highlighter (£10)

A shimmering champagne hue that instantly warms your skin. Powder glides effortlessly over skin to leave a lovely highlighter effect.

I have been waiting for an Ilamasqua product for a long time. I am very happy to have this one In the box.

Elemis – Pro Collagen Marine Gel (15 mL – £30)

Uses the maximum concentrate of powerful marine extract Padina Paronica to transform the skin. This cream increases cell renewal, elasticity and firmness.

Who doesn’t want an Elemin product? It is one of the most popular skincare brands

A long-lasting lip liner that delivers highly pigmented colour. With natural waxes to leave lips feeling soft and protected. Prolongs lipstick wear. Contains vitamins E and C.

Espa – Pink Hair and Scalp Mud (30 mL – £5.10)

A mineral-rich treatment mask that deeply conditions, to leave hair soft and smooth. Contains vitamin C rich watercress, red clay and apricot kernel oil.

Luxie – 209 Large Shader Brush (£15)

Synthetic brush with a rose gold ferrule and bamboo handle in a chic pink colour. This brush is designed to pick up just the right amount of pigment. Can be used wet or dry with liquid, cream or powder eyeshadows.

Brushes are always welcome.

Brushworks – Jade Roller (£9.99)

Crafted with jade handle and gold-tone metal hardcore. It is a double-ended tool with a large and a small jade roller to target every area of the face. Helps to calm and soothe redness and irritation. Enlarged pores are reduced along with puffiness. Encourages deeper penetration of moisturiser and serum.

The box worth £79.

I don’t have a clear winner this month, the three boxes have yes and no. Each one has two products I love, one that I will not use and the rest that neither I like or dislike. I am going to leave equal this month, keeping in mind that they are all the three on the high side of my scale.

The three brands are going to launch Advent Calendars. Glossybox and Lookfantastic have discount for the subscribers and previous years they were both really, really good. Roccabox will launch this year for the first time, I don’t know how good will be or if they will have a discount for subscribers. I leave the links below to subscribe to the boxes and get a discount.

Roccabox. Get 10% off your first box

Glossybox. Get 20% off your first box

Lookfantastic Beauty Box. Get £5 off your first box.

Are you going to buy any of these Advent Calendars?

I love beauty and skincare, try new products, and share my opinion with you. All my knowledge comes from years of experience and reading articles. I have dry skin, Fitzpatrick type IV, warm undertone, and my main concern is hyperpigmentation. Keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you. We are all different and products can have different results on your skin. Want to talk? Email me at
