New Catrice True Skin Foundation Review

I have dry skin and when I hear about a hydrating primer or foundation I become excited and feel the need to try it. That happened when I knew Catrice was going to launch and hydrating foundation, which they claimed to be high coverage. I couldn’t wait to get it and I bought it as soon as it became available. I have been using it for a long time now. In this post, I am going to review Catrice True Skin Foundation.

About Catrice Cosmetics

Catrice is a German company founded in 2004 by the parent company Cosnova Beauty, which is also behind the brand Essence. They founded Catrice as a cruelty-free makeup brand dedicated to creating high-performance products at affordable prices. Also important to notice is that more than 80% of the Catrice collection products are vegan. The brand has now a worldwide presence, covering almost 70 countries, including the UK.

What does the brand say about the product?

With buildable medium to high coverage, it makes small skin impurities and redness disappear and feels as light as a feather on the skin. For a pampered, matte and natural “Real Skin” finish that lasts for a long time. It’s completely vegan – no ingredients of animal origin were used in the formula. Instead, hyaluronic acid and watermelon seed oil provide a real boost of moisture and care, leaving your skin looking smooth and naturally radiant.

My thoughts about Catrice True Skin Foundation

About the packaging

The product comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser and a rose gold plastic cap. Contains 30 mL of product and the pump delivers a good amount of product. Looking at the packaging, it doesn’t seem to be a low-cost product. It looks like a high-end brand foundation.

Catrice True Skin Foundation Texture

The foundation is fluid with a light consistency and almost no smell. After checking the texture, I thought it was going to be low coverage and that a huge amount was going to be necessary to cover my face. However, this is a high-coverage foundation. The brand claims medium to high, but in my opinion, is closer to the high side of the coverage. It is buildable, if you have redness or hyperpigmented areas, a second layer only on those parts completely hides them. You need to apply a small amount to get the desired results.

I like high, almost full coverage and I use two pumps for a full face layer and the second one in a couple of hyperpigmented areas. I apply it with a brush, but if you apply it with a sponge you can get lower coverage.

It blends easily on my skin and dries and sits quickly. Now there are 21 shades available now, but when I bought them, there were only six shades available. My skin is Type IV on the Fitzpatrick Scale with a warm undertone. I chose the shade 039 Warm Olive. This shade matches perfectly my skin tone during summer. However, I need a shade below during winter, when my skin is less dark.

Catrice True Skin Foundation Lasting Power

This foundation lasts long on your skin. I apply it in the morning and it lasts on my skin the full working day, with almost no transfer. It leaves a natural matte finish and doesn’t require the use of setting powder (I don’t like to use setting powders as they give a dry aspect to my skin).

Another good point is that it doesn’t crack or show wrinkles or lines during the day. It doesn’t patch when you apply blush and bronzer on top of it. In spite of being a matte finish foundation, it contains hyaluronic acid and watermelon seed oil and other hydrating ingredients, which gives a hydrating feeling to the skin. My skin doesn’t feel dry when I use this foundation.

In summary, this foundation does exactly what the brand claims. It is a very good product which provides high coverage with a natural, matte finish which feels light on the skin. It lasts a long time without any fading or cracking and doesn’t.

I think this True Skin Foundation by Catrice is going to be an essential product in my make-up stash. I am sure I will buy it again in a different shade which matches my skin colour in winter.

Yes, I thoroughly recommend it. It has a matte finish which makes it ideal for oily and combination skin. However, as it contains hyaluronic acid and other hydration ingredients, it is also a good option for dry skin, provided you like a matte finish.
