Today I am going to talk about a relatively new foundation which became viral just after its release. I am talking about Catrice Tinted Serum Foundation.
I love Catrice foundations, Catrice True Skin is one of my favourite foundations. However, I normally don’t like the tinted serum foundations as I am a fan of full coverage. But this one was so viral that it deserves a try. Let’s go to the review.
What does the brand say
As a light feathery texture like a serum and a performance-like makeup: the Nude Drop Tinted Serum Foundation has a highly fluid, weightless and breathable formula.
It contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to provide 24-hour hydration. Specially coated pigments ensure long-lasting hold and a buildable, light to medium coverage for a radiant complexion with a natural matte finish. The formula is fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. For perfect results, shake the serum/foundation combo well before application.

My thoughts about Catrice Tinted Serum Foundation
Packaging
The product comes in a transparent glass bottle with all the information printed in white. The bottle contains 30 mL, which is the normal amount for any foundation.
It is closed with a white plastic cap containing a pipette to dispense the product. I don’t like this type of dispenser (my favourite dispenser system is the pump). I feel I cannot control the amount of product I want to use with the pipette.
Just after opening the pipette picks up the product easily. However, I think that the situation will be different when I use most of the products.
Texture and application
The product has a liquid texture, as expected for a serum foundation. It is really runny so I should be careful when dispensing the product or I will take a huge excess. I tried to apply this foundation with my hands, brush and makeup sponge. All these ways work well, but depending on the selected tool the coverage will be a bit higher or lower.
With brush and sponge, I only need a small amount of product to cover my face and neck
This foundation is easily spreadable and blendable. I like how uniform the application of this product is. I don’t get any lines or patches, and I get an even skin tone.
This product contains some moisturising ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and glycerine. The brand claims 24 hours of hydration for this product. I always remove my makeup before going to bed. Therefore, I don’t know if the hydration feeling lasts for 24 hours.
However, I can feel the hydration this product gives to my skin. I think what makes this product so comfy to wear is the hyaluronic acid. I have a very dry skin and this foundation feels really hydrating on my skin.
Catrice Tinted Serum Foundation Coverage
I was very surprised the first time I used this product.
I’ve never used a tinted serum foundation because they normally are low coverage. Most serum foundations simply even the skin tone. They are normally luminous or dewy finish. They are exactly the opposite I like for a foundation.
However, this Catrice serum foundation is low to medium coverage. I can easily build up to medium coverage. Of course, it is not the level of coverage I like, but it is good for a tinted serum.
Before applying it on the face, I made a coverage test for this product. I tried to cover an eyeliner line with this foundation using a brush and a sponge and I was amazed. I was expecting so much lower coverage for this product.
The finish also surprised me. I was expecting a dewy or luminous finish but I got a very natural demi-matte finish instead. The finish looks like a second skin.
Something to keep in mind is that the shade oxidises with time. That doesn’t bother me, simply I should choose a shade below mine.
Lasting Power
First of all, I should mention that, as expected for this type of product, my skin feels really lightweight. I feel as if I were not wearing any foundation. It is a really lightweight product.
The foundation stays in place without patching after the application of other powder or cream products. That is important as I will always apply other products over the foundation. It is frustrating when I achieve the perfect foundation finish and I apply the blush and the foundation patches.
There is some transference of this foundation. That is expected for a serum-type foundation. My advice is to use setting powder to avoid the transference. However, my skin is dry and I try to avoid powder products and the lasting power is still good.
Normally I apply this foundation with a brush. Sometimes I spread it first with my hands and I blend it with a brush after. I never use setting powder except on the undereye area as my skin is dry. However, the foundation stays on my face without fading for at least 8 hours.
The weather in the UK is still cold. I don’t know how this foundation will behave in summer when I start sweating. I will update this post with the time the product lasts on my face during the warm summer days.
Catrice Tinted Serum Foundation
Pros
- Lightweight
- Easy to blend and build up
- Lasts all-day
- Demi-matte finish
- Evens skin tone
- Affordable
- Contains hyaluronic acid and vitamin E
Cons
- Low coverage
- Pipette dispenser
Do I recommend it?
I recommend this product if you like low-coverage foundations. It feels comfortable and hydrating on the skin. It is easy to apply and blend and stays all day without fading or patching. Finally, it is affordable and cruelty-free.
In summary, I like this foundation as an everyday product. It is comfy to wear and evens really well my skin tone, despite it does not cover my dark spots. It is ideal for a day to day makeup. However, I should choose something else for more elaborate makeup.
It is a good product, indeed.
