How to Take Care of Your Skin During Summer in a Quick and Effective Way

During summer , many people become bit lazy and relaxed about the skincare routine. However, during this time our skin needs special care. In this post, I will give you some tips to take good care of your skin in summer with minimum effort.

Normally, during summer we are more exposed to the sun radiation which can have negative effects on our skin. UV radiation not only can burn our skin and produce hyperpigmentation, but also can produce dehydration. During this time, temperature is high and our skin becomes more oily and sweaty. Our skin tends to accumulate more dirt and that can cause pimples, blackhead, eczemas and many other skin concerns. How can we avoid all these problems?

Clean your face

Cleaning the face is a MUST during any season, but in summer it is very important to cleanse your face twice a day, morning and before going to sleep. When you clean your skin, you are removing the dirt, pollution, sweat, rest of sunscreen and other impurities that can easily clog the skin pores.

You can continue with the double cleanse but try to use products which clean the pores deeply but that are gentle with your complexion.

Exfoliate your skin

During summer, with the excess of sebum and sweat that our skin produces, the dead cell layer is thicker. It is very important to remove this layer. Therefore, if you do not have sensitive skin, you should exfoliate your skin at least twice a week.

You can use a gentle physical scrub or a chemical exfoliation. If you want to save time, a good option is the use of exfoliating gloves (most of the tanning mitts have one side for exfoliation) or konjac sponge. You can use both during your shower.

Use face masks

After exfoliation or after sun exposition it is very pleasant to refresh your skin with a face mask. You can choose a hydrating mask with hyaluronic acid or go for a nourishing mask with vitamin E.

Another option is the use of a sleeping mask. The way you use these masks is very simple and not time consuming at all. You apply the sleeping mask before going to bed and leave it on overnight. Normally, rinse it after getting up and get all the nourishment and refreshment while you sleep.

Hydrate your skin

Hydration is the magical word in summer. You should hydrate your skin from inside, drinking plenty of water, as well as from outside, using specific products for that. During summer,  I like to use lightweight day cream, preferably water-based formula, which is absorbed quickly without leaving any residues.

For the night cream I prefer a thicker formula, not as thick as the formulas I use during winter, which nourishes and deeply hydrates my skin, especially if I have been exposed to the sun during the day.

Sun protection

It is important to protect your skin against the harmful sun radiation every day. But during summer, UV radiation levels are higher and you should apply sun protection more frequently. It is important to use a sunscreen product specific for the face and neck skin. The skin in these areas is more sensitive than the skin in the rest of the body. Normally, face sunscreen contains extra ingredients, such as moisturiser or anti-pigmentation products, which are very useful for having a healthy skin.

Refresh your skin

That is the perfect complement to any skincare routine. However, you cannot use any face mist, you should avoid the products which contain any type of alcohol. Alcohol can cause skin damage when exposed to sun radiation.

Two good options to refresh your skin are rose water and thermal water. They will cleanse your skin and  pores, hydrate it and leave a refreshing feeling in your face.

As you can see, it is not complicated or time consuming to have a basic skincare routine during summer. It is better during this time to avoid any type of treatment, which can have adverse reactions if they are exposed to the sun. You don’t have any excuses now to jump over your skincare.
